Sunrise at Vasquez Rocks

An early morning sunrise at Vasquez Rocks is a sight to behold.  Dramatic lighting on the angled rock formations and a hiden gorge make Vasquez Rock a "must investigate" nature park in Aqua Dulce, CA.  This painting will be displayed online in the California Art Club Exhibit titled, "From Sea to Sierra", starting 23 March 2026 and running until 29 June 2026.

Who would not be inspired to go hiking at Vasquez Rocks after seeing this masterfully painted canvas? The combination of technical skills found in this landscape painting - the interplay of shadow and morning light, a keen perspective, and stunning composition - truly transports the viewer to a magnificent location. A delicate white cloud floating behind the mammoth rock formation softens the landscape and adds a sense of motion to the scene. Viewing the art from a distance, we are rewarded with the canvas taking on a near-photographic representation of Vazquez Rocks. This painting is a true gem to behold, allowing us to enjoy an awe-inspiring creation of Nature from a distance, as well as being drawn in to admiring the artist’s brushstrokes close up.
